MALABAR HILLS AND AROUND
5 Feb 2010 / My walk trip from The beach to Malabar Hills

This was not my first trip to Bombay, during my previous visit, I was not able to visit a lot of Places inside the City, but this time I got Enough Time. Whenever I come across Bombay, I remember about the Crowded train System and the fiat, Taxi Cars.

My first day evening was celebrated at the Gateway of India. This is the place from where you will get the boats to Elephanta Island. This is where the Terrorist attack took Place. There were lot many People around singing dancing and shouting. I was with my friend Alan John , We had our dinner together and and Said a bye Bye Late night. I was planing to go to Lonar (Crater), but I was a bit late to reach the Railway Station and Missed the train to Manmad (250 Kms East). So I had to stay At Bombay another Day.

Marine Drive
The next day morning I started to Marine Drive, I started early morning by Around 5AM. There was not much Traffic and People. Mumbai and the people of Mumbai were waiting to welcome a new day. As this is The west coast, there was not chance of capturing any sun rise.

Soon there were many People on the Road, Performing Yoga, Short talks and long Walks. I got a companion, Another traveler from Italy. We were together for the rest of the day. We spend a few hours at the beach and then headed to Malabar Hills By After noon.

Jain Temple
We went first to a small garden at Malabar hills.It was not that appealing for us, so we did not stay there for a long time, and then we went to a jain temple. This spot was good and we stood there watching the people and the architecture of the temple for some time.

Banganga Tank
This is considered to be one of the most sacred places in Mumbai. The wooden pole at the center of the tank is believed to the the center of the earth. A festival called Banganga festival is conducted here in January. It is believed that the lake was created by Piercing an Arrow by Lord Rama. There were a lot of small old houses around the Lake.
We had out Dinner Together and I started to my next destination - Lonar Crater and Agra
