It is about 12 km from Idukki (Basicaly Idukki is one of the 14 Districts of Kerala, Called the Gods own Country, Most port of the Idukki district is Hilly and Not developed to a good Extend. The Idukki Town (Locally Called Idukki City which is at the center of the District GPS 9.84,76.97) hosts nothing not even a single Shop except the Second largest Arch dam of Asia called the Idukki Arch Dam. The district head quarters are at Pinavu a town 6 Kms away from Idukki. ) and 16 From Kattapana (Kattapana is One of the big towns in the Idukki district, Famous for Tea And Coffee Plantations. There are Spices and Cardomom plantations too. From the Idukki and Kattapana main road, you can trek up to the top from the stop called 10th Mile. The locale offers a panoramic and unforgettable view of Idukki Dam backwaters. Calvery Mount is easily reachable from Cochin (Eranakulam City GPS :10.01,76.3) and Kottayam (A Town Near Kumarakom, Kerala GPS :9.58,76.52) the Major Towns Of Kerala.
From Cochin You must move along the Cheruthony Kattapana Route. This is a major route and there are buses very frequently. The wide NHs migrate to Ghat roads after 2 hours, ascending along the western Boundary of the Western Ghats. The Major towns are Perumpavur (A Big Town GPS 10.11,76.47), Kothamangalam (A Big town on the way GPS 10.06,76.61), Adimali (A Good Town where the Road divides for Munnar and Idukki Here GPS 10.01,76.95 ), Cheruthony (GPS :9.85,76.96) . (There is another Route Along Thodupuzha to Cheruthony which is longer). From Cheruthony You will have to Move along Kattapana Route for 16 Kilometers and you will reach the place called 10th Mile, Calvary Mount is right Here. You can see a Big Banner. The Local Road moves Uphill for a Kilometer and vehicles can go up to the Top of the Hill, From here you can have a Brilliant view of the Idukki Dam Backwaters and a Birds eye view of the Hills around.
From Madurai flow the NH via Usalmpetty, Theny Kambom Kambom medu, Kattapana . From here follow the road to Idukki to reach Calvary Mount. There are many roads to Kattapana from Theny. One is along kambommedu , Another one is Along Kumily.
